The last joint paper of Stephen Hawking before his demise is directed at the expansion of the universe and suggests that maybe inflation is not infinite and that splitting may occur. The theory leans heavily towards the multiverse philosophy and is actually posed as a question from the question mark in the title “A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation?” Contrary to popular belief, the paper suggests an exit from infinite inflation and its end may be of a smooth nature. The paper itself is replete with acronyms and appears to be intentionally written in the customary prolix manner of theoretical physics. Although the subject of the paper is not particularly new it is cluttered and disjointed and somewhat grammatically challenged resulting in an obtuse presentation. It is the intention of the author of this paper to offer a clearer translation of the Hawking Hartog paper, which is undoubtedly difficult due to its reliance upon several esoteric theories.

The subject of dark matter seems to have become a universal solution for any anomaly which arises in cosmology today forcing the proverbial square peg into a round hole. It was suspected that galaxies do indeed obey the conventional laws of Kepler and Newton and subsequently a model was obtained so that a more thorough investigation could be made. Upon completion it immediately became apparent that a somewhat naïve interpretation of the rotational properties of galaxies has been used for decades and that the correct interpretation predicts exactly the rotational curve of spiral galaxies without any need for dark matter whatsoever.

There are only a few equations used by cosmologists to calculate the current view of the Universe all of which can be extracted often with great difficulty and mathematical gymnastics from Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity often covering several pages. Not surprisingly these same equations can also be derived using Newtonian mechanics as Einstein’s theory of General Relativity supposedly reduces to Newton’s equations. The difference is that using only Newtonian mechanics the same result can be achieved with “relative” ease. The results however are not as expected and require that a more critical analysis of the theories of modern cosmology is in order.

In Einstein’s paper of 1905 The Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies” more commonly known as special relativity, he makes one intentional and misleading statement which places the whole paper in jeopardy. To understand this single disingenuous change does not require high level mathematics but rather basic linguistics. The erroneous change was first noticed by the author in the mid-sixties in a high school physics class which yielded incorrect results when calculated. The same basic calculation can be done today and yields exactly the same result. It is certainly strange that to this day not a single person has noticed the misleading statement and the common saying that, “the best place to hide something is in plain sight”, could never be truer. This paper shows where the intentional misleading statement occurs and its effect on the entire theory.

First, the entropy of the Hubble sphere is given by the product of omega_m and the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of a black hole of Hubble radius c/H_0. When omega_m and H_0 take realistic values the entropy approximates closely to a special value within a binary scheme formulated for black holes. With the entropy set exactly to that special value, one may write down an equation in which H_0 is a function of omega_m. Second, the dark energy density has a definite value that is related to the Bohr radius. Consequently, one may write down a second equation in which H_0 is a function of omega_m. Solving the two equations simultaneously one finds that omega_m = 0.358 and H_0 = 75.4 km/s/Mpc.

SIMPs would resolve certain discrepancies between simulations of the distribution of dark matter, like this one, and the observed properties of the galaxies. In particle physics and astrophysics, weakly interacting massive particles, or WIMPs, are among the leading hypothetical particle physics candidates for dark matter.
