Visual Perception and the Horizon

This paper examines two different explanations of what the horizon is and how it is formed. The first explanation is that the horizon is a physical location, more specifically it is an occluding edge of a spherical surface which obstructs objects below and beyond it from being viewed. The second explanation is that the horizon is an optical phenomenon involving human visual perception and the behavior of light.
